Elton Buchanan

Tattoo Artist:
Elton, born and raised in New Zealand with a love of art from an early age spent many years developing his artistic talent. This led to a career in tattooing & in 1998 went on to complete an apprenticeship in Oregon during his 6 years of travel in America with Kellyrae.
They then moved to Western Australia in late 1999 , where he continued his studies under the Legendary Rick Luder at Fremantle's oldest Tattoo studio.Thirsty for more knowledge Elton & Kellyrare went on to move to the east coast of Australia, working in busy studios at Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, and then Brisbane which ultimately broadened his skill set & further.
Eltons desire to consistently improve & refine then went on to learn freehand Ta Moko/Kurituhi since 2002 after studying under his grandfather Mr Bateup, who learnt to carve traditional Whakairo ( Maori carving) in Rotorua in the 1930s.
Ultimately this has lead to Elton becoming an excellent artist & tattooist with a vast skill set under his belt where he is proficient in a wide array of tattoo styles, mixing a wealth of knowledge in traditional tattooing with modern designs.
With a family on the way the decision was made to move back to New Zealand where Elton and Kellyrae opened Globus Tattoo in Rotorua in 2002.

Kellyrae Buchanan

Tattoo Consultant & Studio Manager:
Kellyrae, originally from Canada born and raised on the prairies of North America in the late 60's. Her nomadic spirit led her to many beautiful places to experience life & finally in 2002 New Zealand.
An organisation extraordinaire & wife to Elton, Kellyrae worked full time on the very first Globus front desk, taking bookings, giving consultations and answering the age old question “How much is a tattoo”, all whilst being a new mum to Obie, born not long after the studio opening in 2002.
Kellyrae’s role at Globus includes but isn’t limited to client consultations, providing honest & valuable advice for all things tattoo (where to place, size, tattoo life expectancy) how big should my tattoo be? Inspiration, ideas & maybe the final nudge you need to get your new tattoo.
Coming from a long list of customer service roles, Kellyrae will go above and beyond to ensure you are well informed, listened to & that your experience with Globus will be nothing but a pleasure from start to finish, believing in providing strong customer communication, to inform & provide as much detail as required - an often overlooked area in the tattoo industry.
Kellyrae is available to provide expert after care advice for the wide range of normal healing reactions, please do not hesitate to contact her daily with any of your new tattoo photos or questions. Your aftercare during healing is a huge part of the outcome of your tattoo & she would rather you contact her for advice than to take matters into your own hands and risk ink loss, damage or infection.
This is the care and integrity they both give to the work at hand, which sets them apart from others & is only a small part off the Globus Tattoo experience that Elton & Kellyrae provide.
